Importing Tea to the Gulf: The Document Set Buyers Should Expect
The document set Gulf tea buyers should expect: invoice, origin, health, halal GSO 2055-1:2015, ISO 22000 and GI papers.

When tea lands in a Gulf port, the paperwork matters as much as the leaf. Buyers commonly request an exporter document set: commercial invoice and packing list, certificate of origin, health and sanitary certificates, halal certification, food safety system certificates and product specifications. Exact requirements differ by country and channel, so confirm the list with your customs broker; the exporter's job is to supply the certificate-side documents accurately. Here is the set, and what we hold.
The Core Document Set
Trade documents open the shipment: commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. Product documents defend it: specification sheets, label files and ingredient declarations matched to the product actually sold. Compliance documents clear it: a halal certificate for products sold as halal, a food safety management certificate from the factory, and health or sanitary certificates issued through the export process. Which of these your broker ranks first depends on destination, product category and channel, which is why the set is confirmed per shipment.
It helps to split the set by who holds the pen. Trade documents follow the commercial contract and are typically processed through chambers or authorities during export. Compliance documents split again: halal and food safety certificates are held by the producer and can be shared before you even place an order, while shipment-level certificates are produced against a specific booking. Ask early for the producer-held documents, because they tell you whether the shipment-level ones will ever arrive in order.
Halal Certification Against GSO 2055-1:2015
For the Gulf market, the halal certificate buyers ask about is one issued against GSO 2055-1:2015, the Gulf standard for halal products, general requirements. Our halal certification is issued by the Shandong Halal Certification Service (SHC) against that standard and is cross-checkable through the ehalal.cn database. When you evaluate any halal certificate, read the standard it references and the issuer behind it, exactly as you would with a food safety certificate.
Factory-Side Certificates and Registration
The factory layer backs the product layer. We hold an ISO 22000:2018 food safety management system certificate, no. 001FSMS2400758, issued by CQC and valid until October 10, 2027, with scope covering production of flavored tea, packaging of tea and herbal tea products, plus China's export food producer registration. Buyers who also ship to the United States can reference our US FDA food facility registration, no. 10319209992, valid until December 31, 2026; it is a facility registration, not a product approval.
Origin Documents for Phoenix Dancong
For origin-led programs, geographical indication documentation matters. Phoenix Dancong tea carries China's Geographical Indication protected product mark; the certificate we reference, no. 9245102MADJPXJ99Q, was announced in 2025 as No. 660. If your Gulf program sells an origin story, GI papers plus the factory certificates give that claim a document trail instead of a slogan.
Closing the Gap Between Markets
Gulf countries do not share one import checklist, and product categories are treated differently, so treat any generic list, including this one, as a starting frame: confirm the exact set with your customs broker or clearance agent for your destination. On the exporter side, we supply the certificates, registration numbers and product documents in that set, with copies shared during inquiry and a verification channel for each.
